Why Create This Web Resource?
Being a positive role model for my children
This site was created to fullfill the requirements of the course EU423 taught by Julie Mueller at Laurier University, in Waterloo, Ontario. The site explores why teaching physical education and health is so important in our schools. It also suggests tools, strategies and resources that would assist teachers and coaches in implementing a safe, inclusive and effective program.
Who Am I?
I am a recent BEd graduate from the Faculty of Education at Wilfrid Laurier University. Throughout most of my life I have been physically active, but somehow over the last few years being physically active has been relegated to the back-burner.
With so much to do in our busy hectic schedules it is easy to sometimes compromise our health and well being. I sincerely believe that being active, and living a healthy life style is key to living a happy, long and healthy life. This course has managed to bring into focus why physical activity is so important for all of us both physically and mentally.
As a future teacher and educator, I believe that you must model the behaviour you wish students to adopt. I hope that through exploring this site you will find ideas and resources that will better equip you to promote and/or teach HPE to our youth, and that if you have lost touch with your active side, that this site will help you to rediscover it. No matter what your skill level, YOU can make a difference!
